Translate your IM Creator website without copying it for every language

IM Creator's own route to a second language is a duplicate site, translated by hand and connected to a subdomain by support. SiteTran keeps your one site and translates it as it loads, with AI and your own translators, from a single code box in Page Widgets.

Which IM Creator do you have?

IM Creator has run more than one builder over the years. The steps on this page are for the current XPRS editor at imcreator.com, the stripe-based one most sites use today.

A quick plan note

  • You can install and test SiteTran on any IM Creator plan, using the Page Widgets code box.
  • When you're ready to welcome international visitors, upgrade to Premium and connect your own domain, since free imxprs.com/free/ sites are capped at 100 views a day by IM Creator.
  • No subdomains or support requests per language: SiteTran adds every language to the site you already have.
How it works

Add SiteTran to IM Creator in three steps

The Widget Code has three lines, and all three go in one place: the Custom widget in IM Creator's Page Widgets. IM Creator writes that code straight into your published page, which is exactly what the language dropdown needs.

1

Create your SiteTran site

Sign up free, add your site's address, select its original language and pick the languages to translate into. SiteTran gives you your Widget Code.

2

Paste it into Page Widgets

In the editor, open the menu icon at the top left and choose General Settings (some accounts show it as Settings › Site Settings). Open Page Widgets, select Custom, click Code, replace the placeholder comment with all three lines and click Save.

Menu›General Settings›Page Widgets›Custom›Code
3

Publish and pick a language

Click Publish, open your live site and choose a language from the dropdown. SiteTran starts discovering your phrases so you can translate them with AI, your team or both.

Preview›Publish›Your live site
What the Widget Code looks like
<script>var sitetran = {site_id: your_site_id};</script>
<script src="//c.sitetran.com/widget/v3.js"></script>
<div id="sitetran_translate_element"></div>
Lines 1–3General Settings › Page Widgets › Custom › Code
Line 3The div the language dropdown is created in

SiteTran gives you your own ready-to-paste code, with your site ID already in it. The widget needs the div, and without it no dropdown appears.

Simplified illustration. IM Creator's panels may look slightly different in your account.

Why Page Widgets, not a stripe widget

IM Creator has two kinds of widgets. Site widgets in General Settings are written straight into your published page, so SiteTran sees every stripe, menu and popup. Section widgets added to a stripe with + › Widget can load in a separate frame, so keep the Widget Code in Page Widgets.

General Settings › Page Widgets › Custom
A Widget element inside a stripe
Head Code, which is for head tags, not the div

Where the dropdown appears

IM Creator adds site widget code after your stripes, but the language dropdown floats in the bottom-left corner of the window by default, so visitors see it on every screen size. Change Positioning on the Dropdown Style page to move it to another corner.

Positioning the Language Dropdown →

Check a few pages after publishing

IM Creator describes site widgets as applying to the whole site or a page. Open two or three pages of your live site. If the dropdown only shows on the page you edited, add the same Custom widget on the others. The code doesn't change from page to page.

What happens to each part of your IM Creator site

SiteTran translates whatever IM Creator renders in the browser. It keeps watching the page, so popups, form messages and store items that appear later are translated when they appear.

Translated in place

Stripes, galleries and items

Titles, subtitles, body text, buttons, gallery captions and item descriptions are translated inside your existing stripes, with the same layout, fonts and effects.

Translated on every page

Menus and submenus

Menu items, dropdown submenus and the footer are translated once and reused across pages. No second menu per language, and no copy of the site to keep in step.

Translated when shown

Popups and lightboxes

Popup stripes, lightbox titles and the cookie consent text are translated when they open, so a visitor never sees a German page with an English popup.

Translated as displayed

Contact stripe and blog

Form labels, the send button and the thank-you message are translated, and blog posts are translated like any page. What a visitor types is sent as typed.

Translated on your pages

Store items

Product names, descriptions and buy buttons in your store stripes are translated when they render. Prices and currencies stay as you set them in the store dashboard.

Translated with the page

SEO titles, alt text and link previews

The page title and description from IM Creator's SEO window, image alt text, tooltips and social link previews switch language along with the visible text.

IM Creator's built-in option

A copy of your site per language, or one site in every language

IM Creator doesn't have a translation feature. Its help center explains how to make a multilingual site by saving a copy of your site for each language and connecting each copy to its own subdomain.

IM Creator's method

Save as, translate, ask support to connect

  • Duplicate the site with Save as, translate every stripe by hand, publish it, add a CNAME for a subdomain and email IM Creator support to connect it.
  • Each new project, price or menu item has to be added to every copy, so languages drift apart over time.
  • Translators work inside your IM Creator account, and hreflang tags are added to each page's header by hand.
With SiteTran

One site, translated as it loads

  • Edit your site once in IM Creator and republish. New text appears in SiteTran ready to translate, or is machine translated automatically if you turn that on.
  • Invite translators and reviewers by email for each language. They work in SiteTran and never need your IM Creator login.
  • Add a language in minutes. Every plan includes unlimited languages, and nothing changes in IM Creator.

From IM Creator's help center article "Create Multilingual Website", checked October 20, 2026. Its main advantage is a real address per language for search engines. If that matters most to you, see the SEO section below for how SiteTran handles language URLs.

Every way to make an IM Creator site multilingual

IM Creator has no app store, so the choices are its duplicate-site method, a free browser-translation widget, a script-based translation service, or SiteTran.

Languages and limits One more site to maintain per language. All languages, machine translation only. Capped per plan. Weglot Starter: 1 language, 10,000 words, €15 a month. Unlimited languages on every plan. Free plan: 7K words in site.
Language URLs A subdomain per language, with hreflang tags you add yourself. None. URLs don't change and the translations aren't indexed. Subdomains or subdirectories, depending on the plan and setup. Same URL by default, with translated meta tags. Language URLs through the Static Translation API.

IM Creator details are from its help center. GTranslate and Weglot details are from their own websites; none of the translation services we checked publishes an IM Creator-specific guide. All checked October 20, 2026. For a two-page site in one extra language that rarely changes, a duplicate site can be a reasonable choice.

Translation quality

AI speed, with a person checking what matters

Start with machine translation and refine it with your own people. You decide what gets approved and when it goes live on your IM Creator site.

  • Machine translation from DeepL, Google and OpenAI

Get suggestions for any phrase, or translate new phrases automatically. You choose whether they're approved automatically or reviewed first.

  • Translators and reviewers per language

Invite a client, a bilingual friend or a professional translator for each language, and choose who can approve. Turn on AI Translation Review for a second opinion.

  • Glossary, rules and translation memory

Keep your name and project titles as written in the Glossary, set Translation Rules that AI translation follows, such as an informal tone in Spanish, and reuse past work with Similar Phrases.

  • A language dropdown that fits your design

Choose Styled Select, Dropdown List or Bare Select, with or without flags, and add your own CSS so it matches your stripes. Visitors are switched to their browser language automatically.

Language URLs for Google

By default, every language uses your existing URL and the visitor's choice is remembered. For a separate, indexable page per language, SiteTran's Static Translation API returns translated HTML for an address you serve it from:

maraolle.com/workOriginal
maraolle.com/es/workProxy + API
es.maraolle.com/workSubdomain + proxy

On IM Creator, language URLs are served by a proxy or edge worker on your own connected domain, which we'll help you set up.

Talk to us about IM Creator SEO
Your own domain in front of IM Creator

How language URLs work with a proxy

Your IM Creator site stays exactly where it is. A small proxy or edge worker on your domain answers requests for language addresses, asks SiteTran for the translated page and returns it, with the original language passed straight through.

  1. Keep the original liveThe API reads your public original pages, so they must be published on IM Creator with the Widget Code in place.
  2. Serve each languageFor a request such as /es/work, the proxy calls the API with the original page's URL and a language code and returns the translated HTML. Each call is one Static API request, so cache the results.
  3. Keep the dropdown in syncSet sitetran.static_url_language_code_lookup so the dropdown links to your language URLs and hreflang tags are added. Refresh cached pages after you publish new translations.

Troubleshooting

IM Creator translation not working? Check these first

Most IM Creator setup problems come down to which code box was used, the missing div, or publishing.

1The language dropdown doesn't appear

  1. Check that the Custom code box holds all three lines, including <div id="sitetran_translate_element"></div>. Without the div, there's nowhere to draw the dropdown.
  2. Click Publish after saving, then check your live site or IM Creator's Preview rather than the editing canvas.
  3. In SiteTran, make sure the language is both Active and Live. If Hide All Widgets On Site (dev mode) is on, add ?sitetran=on to your URL.
My Language Isn’t Showing Up in the Language Dropdown →

2I pasted the code into a stripe widget

  1. A Widget element added to a stripe with + › Widget can run in its own frame, apart from the rest of your page.
  2. Delete that element and paste the code into General Settings › Page Widgets › Custom instead.
  3. Publish again and check your live site in a private window.

3The dropdown only shows on one page

  1. The Custom widget may have been added to that page only.
  2. Open each other page in the editor and add the same Custom widget with the same three lines.
  3. Publish once you've added it everywhere.

4The dropdown overlaps my chat or cookie widget

  1. The dropdown sits in the bottom-left corner of the window by default, where other site widgets may also sit.
  2. On the Dropdown Style page, change the top, right, bottom or left values, for example to the top right.
  3. Changes can take up to 10 minutes to reach browsers that already loaded your site.
Positioning the Language Dropdown →

5Some text is still in English

  1. SiteTran discovers text when it's shown, so open popups, lightboxes, store items and every page you need translated.
  2. A translation appears only after it's approved and published. To translate new text automatically, turn on Machine Translation Auto Translate.
  3. Check that the text isn't listed in sitetran.ignore_selectors in your Widget Code.
Translating Dynamic Content →

6My changes aren't showing yet

  1. After you approve and publish, translation data can take up to 30 seconds to update.
  2. A visitor's browser can keep translation data cached for up to 10 minutes.
  3. Try a hard refresh or a private window. On a free imxprs.com address, also check you haven't hit IM Creator's 100 views a day.

FAQ

IM Creator translation questions

Email support
How do I add SiteTran to my IM Creator website?
Create a free SiteTran site and copy your Widget Code. In the IM Creator editor, open the menu icon at the top left, choose General Settings, open the Page Widgets tab and select Custom. Click Code, replace the placeholder comment with all three lines of the Widget Code and click Save. Publish your site, open it, and pick a language from the dropdown.
Which IM Creator code box should I use?
Use the Custom widget under General Settings, Page Widgets. IM Creator writes that code straight into your published page, so the scripts run and the div gives the language dropdown a place to appear. Avoid a Widget element inside a stripe, because IM Creator can load that code in a separate frame, apart from the rest of your page. Head Code is meant for head tags such as scripts, so it is not a place for the div.
Do I need a paid IM Creator plan?
You can install and test SiteTran on any plan, because IM Creator's help center lists no plan requirement for the Page Widgets code box. For a live multilingual site you will want Premium, which lets you connect your own domain instead of the imxprs.com/free/ address that IM Creator limits to 100 views a day.
Does IM Creator have a built-in multilingual feature?
Not a translation feature. IM Creator's help center describes copying your site with Save as for each language, translating the copy yourself, publishing it on a subdomain such as es.yourdomain.com, emailing support to connect it, and adding hreflang tags by hand. Every later change has to be repeated in each copy. SiteTran keeps one site and translates it as it loads.
Will the language dropdown appear on every page?
IM Creator describes site widgets as applying to an entire site or page. After you publish, open a few different pages. If the dropdown only appears on the page you edited, open each of the other pages and add the same Custom widget there. The code is identical on every page.
Where does the language dropdown appear?
By default it floats in the bottom-left corner of the browser window, so it is visible on every screen size wherever IM Creator places the code. To move it, change Positioning and the top, right, bottom or left values on the Dropdown Style page in SiteTran.
Does SiteTran translate my IM Creator store?
Yes. Product names, descriptions and buy buttons in your store stripes are translated as they render, and prices stay as you set them. Like every website translation tool, the payment window follows your payment provider's own language settings, such as Stripe's.
Are popups, contact forms and blog posts translated?
Yes. SiteTran keeps watching the page, so popups, lightboxes, contact form labels and thank-you messages, blog posts and gallery captions are translated when they appear.
Do translated IM Creator pages get their own URLs for SEO?
By default, every language is served from your existing URL with translated titles and meta descriptions, and the visitor's choice is remembered. For indexable language URLs such as /es/ or es.yourdomain.com, SiteTran's Static Translation API returns translated HTML that a proxy or edge worker in front of your domain serves. Book a call and we will help you plan it.
Can I keep my name and project titles untranslated?
Yes. Add them to the Glossary so machine translation and translators keep them as written. To skip whole parts of a page, such as a client list, list their CSS selectors in sitetran.ignore_selectors in your Widget Code.
Can I use machine translation and still review it?
Yes. You can get machine translation suggestions from DeepL, Google Translate or OpenAI, automatically translate new phrases, and decide whether those translations are approved automatically or reviewed first. You can also invite human translators and reviewers for each language and use AI Translation Review.
I build IM Creator sites for clients. Can I use SiteTran on them?
Yes. Create a SiteTran site for each client website and add its Widget Code through the same Page Widgets box. Invite the client or their translators as teammates on that site. Teammates are unlimited on every plan, and nobody needs access to your IM Creator or white label account.
Can I test translations before visitors see them?
Yes. A language stays hidden from visitors until you set it to Live. You can also turn on Hide All Widgets On Site (dev mode) under Settings, then Publishing, and add ?sitetran=on to your site's URL to see the language dropdown yourself.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes 7,000 words in your site, 3,000 translated pageviews per month and 7,000 machine translations, with unlimited languages and teammates. Paid plans raise those limits and start at $3 per month. Compare plans.
What happens if I go over my plan's limits?
You will be prompted to upgrade or buy additional credits. Your existing translations remain intact, and new translations are paused until you upgrade.
