Pages, sections and navigation
Fluid Engine sections, text and image blocks, buttons, menus, the announcement bar and the footer are translated together. Edit a page in Squarespace and the new text is discovered on the next visit.
Keep one set of pages and let every visitor read your site in their own language. SiteTran translates your pages, blog posts, products and forms as they load, so you never maintain a duplicate page again.

SiteTran runs from Squarespace's Code Injection panel. Squarespace keeps serving your site as usual, and SiteTran shows each visitor their language.
Sign up free and add your Squarespace site's address. SiteTran gives you your Widget Code, which adds the language dropdown to your site.
In the Pages panel, scroll to the bottom and open Code Injection. Paste the Widget Code into the Footer field and click Save. It loads on every page.
Open your site in a private window and pick a language. SiteTran discovers your text, then you translate it with AI, your own translators, or both, and publish.
<script>var sitetran = { site_id: your_site_id };</script> <script src="//c.sitetran.com/widget/v3.js"></script> <div id="sitetran_translate_element"></div>
SiteTran gives you your own ready-to-paste code, with your site ID already in it. The div is where the language dropdown appears.
Don't see Custom Code? Some dashboards list Code Injection under Website Tools at the bottom of the Pages panel instead. See which plans include it.
A Squarespace site is more than pages. Here's how SiteTran handles the blog, the store, forms, member pages and both versions of the platform.
Fluid Engine sections, text and image blocks, buttons, menus, the announcement bar and the footer are translated together. Edit a page in Squarespace and the new text is discovered on the next visit.
Posts, excerpts, categories, project pages and event descriptions are translated as they're viewed. Publish a new post and it joins your phrases, ready for AI or your translators.
Product names, descriptions, variant labels, stock messages and your cart are translated, so shoppers understand every detail before they buy.
Labels, placeholders, buttons and the messages that appear after a visitor submits are translated as they appear. What visitors type stays exactly as they typed it.
Gated pages are pages on your site, so members read them in their language after they sign in. For private content, you can turn off Public Phrase Discovery and exclude personal details.
Code Injection works on both. On 7.0 templates with Ajax loading, such as Brine or York, content is translated as it loads. If custom code conflicts, Squarespace suggests turning off Enable Ajax loading.
Gallery captions, image alt text and button labels are translated with your page, so your portfolio reads naturally in every language.
SiteTran detects each visitor's browser language on the first visit and remembers their choice, so returning visitors land in their language.
The SEO title and description you set in Squarespace, and the social sharing tags, switch with the visitor's language. Indexable language URLs are available through the Static Translation API. See the details.
From the first page view to the cart, visitors read your Squarespace site in their language. Here's what that covers.
The language they picked, or their browser language on the first visit.
Their language, so they understand every detail before they buy.
Their language. Submissions arrive exactly as visitors typed them.
Their language, with a different image file per language wherever you need one.
Their language in the browser tab, plus translated Open Graph and Twitter tags.
Squarespace's site language sets the language of its checkout and notification emails. If most of your buyers read one language, choose it in the Site Languages panel (Language & region on 7.0).
SiteTran translates from your site's original language, so keep your Squarespace content and built-in text in that same language. Squarespace's built-in text, like form labels and "Add to Cart", is then translated along with everything else on the page.
SiteTran needs a place to load its script, and on Squarespace that's Code Injection. Squarespace includes it on these plans.

Squarespace shows built-in text in one language at a time, so a second language means duplicating pages or adding a translation service. Here's what each approach involves.
Squarespace's manual method: a copy of every page per language, grouped in navigation dropdowns. You translate and update each copy yourself.
Squarespace's built-in partner. You connect it from the Site Languages panel on version 7.1 sites, and edit translations in Weglot.
Services like SiteTran load from Code Injection and translate your pages in the visitor's browser, with no change to how your site is built.

Squarespace sites are often a brand's whole voice. Start with machine translation, then refine it with people who know your work. You decide what's approved and when it goes live.
Get suggestions for any phrase, or translate new blog posts and products automatically. Choose whether machine translations are approved automatically or reviewed first.
Invite a native-speaking client, freelancer or teammate for each language and choose who can approve. Turn on AI Translation Review for a second opinion.
Keep your studio, product and collection names consistent with the Glossary, set Translation Rules that AI translation follows, and reuse past work with Similar Phrases.
Turn "Only 3 left" or "Workshop on May 4" into one phrase with a variable, so a single translation covers every value.
Squarespace templates are designed around your words. Translations change their length, script and direction, so SiteTran gives you per-language controls that don't touch your Squarespace styles.
German and French often run longer than English, which can crowd buttons and headings. Add CSS for one language, on one page or every page, from Languages in SiteTran.
Update CSS styles by language →For a banner or graphic with text baked in, translate the image's URL, and each language shows its own version of the image.
Translate images and links →Check that your Squarespace fonts include the characters you need, and add per-language CSS for a fallback font. SiteTran supports right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Hebrew.
Add per-language CSS →Choose Fixed on window and a corner on the Dropdown Style page, or position #sitetran_translate_element with CSS so it sits beside your Squarespace navigation.
Pick from three dropdown types, with or without flags, and add your own CSS so the dropdown uses your site's fonts and colors.
Browse dropdown designs →Your studio name, artists' names and customer details can stay untranslated. Use the Glossary for names, or the notranslate class inside a Code Block.
Your titles, descriptions and link previews are translated as soon as you install SiteTran, and you can add indexable language URLs when you're ready to grow search traffic.
SiteTran translates more than visible text. When a visitor switches language, the SEO title and description you wrote in Squarespace switch with it.
lang attribute, set to the selected languageBy default, every language uses your existing Squarespace URLs and the visitor's choice is remembered. For a separate, indexable page per language, SiteTran's Static Translation API returns translated HTML for URLs like these:
You serve these pages through a proxy or edge worker in front of your domain. We'll help you plan it.
