What guests will see in their language

SiteTran runs from an HTML code section, so every page that section is on is shown in each guest's language, from your welcome message to the shuttle times.

How it works

Add SiteTran to your WedSites website in three steps

No WedSites plugin or developer needed. These steps match the current WedSites Website builder.

1

Create your SiteTran site

Sign up free, enter your wedding website's address and pick your languages. SiteTran gives you your Widget Code, which adds the language dropdown to your site.

2

Add an HTML code section

In WedSites, open Website, then Builder, and click Add section. Scroll to Advanced, choose HTML code, paste all three lines, leave Visibility on Public and click Add HTML code.

Website›Builder›Add section›HTML code
3

Translate, then let family check it

Click View site and pick a language. SiteTran discovers your text as you browse. Translate it with AI, invite a bilingual relative to review it, and publish.

What the Widget Code looks like
<script>var sitetran = {site_id: your_site_id};</script>
<script src="//c.sitetran.com/widget/v3.js"></script>
<div id="sitetran_translate_element"></div>

SiteTran gives you your own ready-to-paste code, with your site ID already in it. The div is where the language dropdown is created.

Put it on every page

A WedSites section only loads on the pages it belongs to. If you've added pages such as Travel or Guestbook, assign the HTML code section to those pages too. The guest's language follows them from page to page.

Keep the section Public

WedSites lets you make a section private to some guests or to admins only. A private HTML code section only loads for those people, so everyone else would see no dropdown and no translations.

Choose where the dropdown sits

By default the dropdown floats in the bottom-left corner of every page. Choose Relative positioning in SiteTran's Dropdown Style to show it where your HTML code section is, for example right under your names.

Positioning the Language Dropdown on your Site →
The RSVP page

Help every guest RSVP with confidence

Two small steps make replying easy for every guest. Like every website translation tool, SiteTran works on your website's pages, and WedSites shows the RSVP form on its own page using the questions you write.

On your translated pages

Explain the RSVP before guests click

Your home page is translated, so use it to walk guests through the RSVP in their language before they open the form.

  • Add a short "How to RSVP" section: which name to search for, the reply-by date, and whether to answer for the whole household
  • Your RSVP buttons and the "RSVP by" date in your header and menu are translated too
  • Explain meal choices and dietary questions here, where guests can read them in full
On the RSVP form itself

Write the questions in both languages

In WedSites' RSVP form settings you write your own questions. Put both languages in each one. Guests' answers are saved exactly as they type them.

How SiteTran handles each part of your wedding website

A wedding website is full of names, places, dates and times. Here's how to get each of them right.

Kept as written

Your names

Add ignore_selectors: ['.header__name', '.menu__name'] to the first line of your Widget Code. Those are the classes WedSites gives the names in your header and menu. For names inside your own text, add them to the Glossary.

Skip HTML from Being Translated or Discovered →
Translated once

Schedule, dates and times

Month names, event names and notes are translated like any text. Turn on Automatic Number Variables so times like "4:30 pm" and "Table 12" share one translation, and set a Translation Rule for 24-hour time if your guests expect it.

Automatic Number Variables →
Use the Glossary

Hotels, venues and things to do

Descriptions, room-block codes and shuttle times are translated. Add your venue, hotel and restaurant names to the Glossary so "Villa Serena" never turns into a literal translation.

Glossary →
Short and clear

Big section headings

One- or two-word headings such as "Schedule" or "Travel" translate cleanly. WedSites draws each word of a large heading separately, so translate each word with the whole heading in mind.

Translated

Registry and cash funds

Your registry section, its headings and your note about gifts are translated, so guests understand your wishes before they click through to a store or cash fund.

Check the sign-in screen

Password and guest check-in

Once guests check in or enter your access code, every page they open is translated. Keep the sign-in wording short and simple so everyone gets through it easily.

Add directions

Maps and directions

Write directions, parking and taxi tips in a text section next to your map, and every guest reads them in their own language.

Use Cookies

Language links

Guests' browsers pick their language, and their choice is remembered on every visit. Leave URL Type on Use Cookies, because WedSites menu links use # to jump to sections such as #schedule.

Who translates a wedding website

For the guests who travel the farthest

A wedding website answers the questions guests are too polite to ask: where to stay, what to wear, when the bus leaves. Everyone deserves to read those answers without guessing.

Two families, two languages

Share the same story and the same details with both sides, so nobody gets a shorter version or relies on a cousin to translate.

Destination weddings

Travel tips, ferry times and local customs matter most when guests are in a country they don't know. Add the local language for vendors and venue staff too.

Blended traditions

Explain a tea ceremony, a sangeet, a ketubah signing or a lasso to guests seeing it for the first time, in words they'll understand.

Friends from everywhere

Studied abroad, work in an international team? Add a third or fourth language. Every plan includes unlimited languages.

Let the person who knows the language have the final word

Machine translation gets you a good first draft in minutes. Then invite your aunt, your best friend's mother or your future in-laws as translators for their language. They can polish the wording and approve it before guests see it. Teammates and translators are unlimited on every plan, so it costs nothing extra.

Every way to make a WedSites website bilingual

WedSites has its own multilingual feature on the Pro plan, and it's a good one. Here's how it compares with writing everything twice and with SiteTran, so you can pick what suits your wedding.

Both languages on each pageWrite every section twice WedSites multilingualBuilt in, Pro plan SiteTranOne HTML code section
How it works You type each section in one language, then again in the other, on the same page. Settings, then Languages, then Add language. WedSites copies your sections and translates them, and guests switch with language links in your menu. Your one website is shown in each guest's language, with a language dropdown.
Cost Included in any plan. Pro plan, $199 one-time, compared with $99 for Standard and $39 for Basic. Free plan to start, paid plans from $3/month. Works on Basic and Standard too.
When plans change Edit both versions and hope they still match. Each language is a separate copy after setup. Edit each one, and add new sections to each language yourself. Edit once. Changed text shows up in SiteTran to translate, or is translated automatically if you turn that on.
Who checks the wording Whoever writes it. AI first draft that you edit in the builder. Account users can edit, and WedSites' tools are in English. DeepL, Google or OpenAI, plus unlimited family translators and reviewers, Glossary and Translation Rules.
Languages Two, before pages get long. As many as you need. Unlimited, from 187+ including right-to-left.

Already on WedSites Pro?

Then WedSites' own languages are worth trying first, especially if a translated RSVP form and ecards matter most to you. SiteTran suits couples on Basic or Standard, couples who'd rather edit one site than several copies, and anyone who wants relatives to review the wording without sharing the WedSites login.

What about other wedding website builders?

Joy offers a language picker that translates its own buttons and menus into a limited set of languages, while you duplicate and translate your pages and show them to guests by tag. Squarespace has no built-in translation and points to Weglot. We found no WedSites guide from Weglot, ConveyThis or GTranslate.

WedSites details are from its pricing page and help center, Joy's from its help center, and Squarespace's from its support pages, all checked October 20, 2026. Prices are one-time WedSites plan prices in USD.

Translation quality

Words that sound like you, in every language

Your welcome message should feel warm, not machine-made. Start with AI, then let someone who speaks the language make it sound like the two of you.

  • Machine translation from DeepL, Google and OpenAI

Get suggestions for any phrase, or translate new phrases automatically. You choose whether they're approved automatically or reviewed first.

  • Family as translators and reviewers

Invite a bilingual relative or friend for each language and choose who can approve. Turn on AI Translation Review for a second opinion.

  • Glossary, rules and translation memory

Keep names and places in the Glossary, set Translation Rules that AI follows, such as the warm "tú" in Spanish or polite forms in Japanese, and reuse earlier work with Similar Phrases.

  • A dropdown that suits your theme

Choose from three dropdown types, with or without flags, and add your own CSS. Guests are switched to their browser language automatically.

Search and sharing

What about SEO and shared links?

Most couples share their wedding website by invitation, text and QR code, and many would rather it didn't show up in search at all. Here's what changes when a guest switches language.

Titles and accessibility

When a guest picks a language, more than the visible text changes.

  • The browser tab title of each page
  • Meta descriptions and Open Graph tags on the page
  • Image alt text, placeholders and ARIA labels
  • The page's lang attribute, so screen readers use the right voice, and right-to-left layout for Arabic and Hebrew
Good to know

One address for every language

Your WedSites address stays the same in every language, and each guest's choice is remembered on their device. That's what most couples want: one link on the invitation that works for everyone.

Print it on the invitation, text it or turn it into a QR code. Guests can still switch language at any time from the dropdown.

Troubleshooting

WedSites translation not working? Check these first

Most problems come down to where the HTML code section is, or who it's visible to.

1No dropdown appears at all

  1. Look in the bottom-left corner. That's where the dropdown sits unless you've set Relative positioning.
  2. Check the HTML code section has all three lines, including the div, and that Visibility is Public.
  3. In SiteTran, make sure the language is both Active and Live. If Hide All Widgets On Site (dev mode) is on, add ?sitetran=on to your site's address.
My Language Isn’t Showing Up in the Language Dropdown →

2The dropdown is only on the home page

  1. Pages made with Add page only show the sections assigned to them.
  2. Assign your HTML code section to each extra page, such as Travel or Guestbook.
  3. Open each page with View site and check the dropdown is there.

3Guests ask how to RSVP in their language

  1. Add a "How to RSVP" section on your home page so guests read the steps in their language first.
  2. In WedSites' RSVP form settings, write each question and its instructions in both languages.
  3. Open the RSVP link from your translated site to check it reads well for guests.

4Clicking a menu link changes the language

  1. Your dropdown's URL Type is probably set to Use Hash, which reads #schedule as a language code.
  2. In SiteTran's Dropdown Style, set URL Type back to Use Cookies and save.
  3. Refresh your site in a private window to check.

5A heading reads oddly in another language

  1. Large WedSites section headings send each word to SiteTran on its own.
  2. Shorten the heading to one or two words, or translate each word so the whole heading reads naturally.
  3. For longer titles, use a text section's title, which is translated as one sentence.

6My changes aren't showing yet

  1. A translation appears only after it's approved and published. To translate new text automatically, turn on Machine Translation Auto Translate.
  2. After you publish, translation data can take up to 30 seconds to update, and a browser can keep it cached for up to 10 minutes.
  3. Try a hard refresh or a private window.

Bilingual wedding website questions

Email support
How do I add SiteTran to my WedSites wedding website?
Create a free SiteTran site and copy your Widget Code. In WedSites, open Website, then Builder, click Add section, scroll to Advanced and choose HTML code. Paste all three lines, leave Visibility set to Public and click Add HTML code. Then click View site and pick a language from the dropdown.
Do I need the code on every page?
On every page you've built, yes. Most WedSites content sits on the home page, and its menu links jump down that page. If you've added pages such as Travel or Guestbook, assign the HTML code section to those pages too, because a section only loads on the pages it belongs to. The guest's language is remembered from page to page.
How do guests RSVP in their own language?
Add a short "How to RSVP" section to your home page, which is translated with the rest of your site, and write your RSVP questions in both languages in WedSites' RSVP form settings. Like every website translation tool, SiteTran works on your website's pages, and WedSites shows the RSVP form on its own page using the questions you write.
Doesn't WedSites have its own multilingual feature?
Yes, on the Pro plan. WedSites copies your site into each language with AI translation, and lets you translate the RSVP form and ecards and set each guest's preferred language. After setup, each language is a separate copy you edit on its own. SiteTran works on Basic and Standard too, keeps one site, and sends every new or changed sentence to your translators.
Which WedSites plan do I need?
Any plan that publishes your website. WedSites' free trial lets you design your site, and publishing needs a paid plan, starting with Basic. WedSites doesn't list the HTML code section as a feature of one particular plan. Online RSVPs need Standard or Pro, and WedSites' own multilingual websites need Pro.
How do we keep our names from being translated?
Add ignore_selectors: ['.header__name', '.menu__name'] inside the curly brackets on the first line of your Widget Code. Those are the classes WedSites uses for the names in your header and menu. For names inside your own text, add them to the Glossary so translators and AI keep them as written.
Can a family member check the translations?
Yes. In SiteTran, open Languages, click Manage for their language and use Invite a translator. Keep Set this translator as a reviewer checked if they should approve wording before guests see it. Every plan includes unlimited teammates, so inviting relatives and friends costs nothing extra.
Will guests see their own language automatically?
Yes, by default. SiteTran detects the guest's browser language and switches to it when that language is available on your site. The choice is saved in a cookie for future visits, and guests can change language at any time from the language dropdown.
Can I send guests a link that opens in their language?
You usually don't need one. SiteTran detects each guest's browser language and remembers their choice, so the same link on your invitation works for everyone. For WedSites, keep URL Type on Use Cookies, because WedSites menu links use # to jump to sections such as #schedule.
Does it work with a password-protected wedding website?
Yes. Once guests check in or enter your access code, every page they open is translated. Keep the sign-in wording short and simple, and open your site in a private window to see it as a guest would.
Can I test translations before guests see them?
Yes. A language stays hidden from guests until you set it to Live. You can also turn on Hide All Widgets On Site (dev mode) under Settings, then Publishing, and add ?sitetran=on to your site's address to preview the language dropdown yourself.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes 7,000 words in your site, 3,000 translated pageviews per month and 7,000 machine translations, with unlimited languages and teammates. Paid plans raise those limits and start at $3 per month. Compare plans.
What happens if I go over my plan's limits?
You will be prompted to upgrade or buy additional credits. Your existing translations remain intact, and new translations are paused until you upgrade.
