Integrating with Jimdo
Signing Up
Upon first signing up for Jimdo, you’ll be prompted to choose the type of website you want to create. To access custom templates and insert custom codes, make sure to select "The editor for coding experts." The other option won’t allow for these customizations.
Note: If you've selected the Website Builder or Create a beautiful website--no coding required option, you won’t be able to access the Custom Templates needed to add the SiteTran widget. To enable this feature, you must create a new site. Go to "Projects" in the upper right, select "New Website," and choose the Creator site or The editor for coding experts. For further questions about it, please reach out to Jimdo.
Initial Login and Navigation
In a new tab, log in to your Jimdo website
After logging in to your Jimdo account, hover your mouse over your username in the upper right corner and select "Dashboard" from the dropdown menu.
Access Website Editor
On your admin dashboard, locate and click on the "Edit Website" button to enter the website editor.
Navigate to Design Settings
Once inside the website editor, click on the “Menu” button located at the top left corner of the dashboard.
Access Design Options
From the menu options, select "Design".
Choose Custom Template
Within the design menu, locate and click on "Custom template".
Access Code Editor
Upon selecting "Custom template," you'll be directed to a page with a code editor.
Note: When editing or selecting the custom template in Jimdo, an HTML code may already be populated. Ensure to review this code before adding the SiteTran widget to avoid conflicts.
- Locate the <div id="header"> tag in your Jimdo template's HTML code, and paste the SiteTran widget code you copied earlier.
Your widget code looks like this:
<script>var sitetran = { site_id: your_site_id };</script> <script src="//c.sitetran.com/widget/v3.js"></script>
If you need help finding your code snippet, check out this article.
- After pasting the widget code, locate the "Save" button at the bottom left of the page.
Note: When you check the custom template in Jimdo after saving, additional HTML codes may be added automatically. These codes won’t affect the SiteTran widget, and you can still customize the template as needed.
